Palestinian's Bittersweet Homecoming To Nahr al-Bared

NAHR AL-BARED, LEBANON -- March 4, 2008 -- Palestinian refugees started returning yesterday to the Nahr al-Bared camp in northern Lebanon, which they fled last year after fighting erupted between the Lebanese Army and members of the militant group Fatah al-Islam. In its largest such effort ever, the UN Relief and Works agency is committed to handle the difficult return of the over 30,000 displaced, who in most cases will have to live in small prefab houses while waiting for their camp to be rebuilt from rubble.
